Polling Station

We went voting today. I love voting, still gives me a thrill and still (after the long wait to turn 18) makes me feel grown up.

It's been a tough and beleaguered time for Labour recently but I continue to take solace in the great achievements of the past twelve years and all the things the Tories opposed.
Just a few that come to mind are: minimum wage, free entry to museums, civil partnerships, lowering of the age of consent, devolution of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the Major of London, transformation of education and the NHS, city academies and school building programme, the ending of hereditary peerages and reform of the House of Lords, peace in Northern Ireland and the Good Friday Agreement, crime reduced by 35%, lowest levels of unemployment and inflation since the sixties, record levels of overseas aid, 2 weeks paternity leave for fathers, child benefit increased by 25%, childcare vouchers, the 2012 Olympics, record number of gold medals in the 2008 Olympics, the freedom of information act and a legislative programme to address climate change.
