Kempton Park

The glorious twelfth. First day of Grouse shooting and my twin sister and I's 39th birthday!

Ibolya and I took the day off work and got up at 6.00 to have a big day out with Stephen, Christophe and Karen at Kempton Park, Antiques Fair. The rain held off and we had a really lovely time. It felt particularly good to be in a pub, at lunchtime, on a work day, with wife, Little One in tummy, our friends, drinking Guinness, on my birthday, in the sunshine, buzzed by wasps. Fantastic, just one of those exceptionally beautiful and happy moments.

We saw some wonderful things at the fair but in my blogging haste last night, I broke my SD card so lost most of the pictures of the day. Here are a few that survived. The chair at the top was the find of the day, bought by Karen, a beautiful peice of Scandanavian design. My biggest loss though was the photos I took of the stack of 1960's and 70's pornography we discovered, kept us amused for ages and were so photogenic.

In the afternoon, Ibolya and I had a trundle down Kensington High Street, brought a new cycling helmet, a cake and a bit of lunch from Whole Foods and popped into Hammersmith for a hair cut. We reconvened round at Stephen's, with Mark and Mike who made us a special birthday Lancashire Hotpot. In between we watched a couple of episodes of Sopranos. The first one, brilliant, the second - awful, a whole episode dream sequence! I felt really let down by that.

It was Little One's first exposure to Ranos and I don't think it went down well, given the severe attack of heart burn he gave Ibolya.

I had a really great birthday and feeling very happy and excited to be starting the last year of my thirties.
