The Green Man Festival

Glanusk Park, Powys, Wales. 21st to 23rd August 2008.

This weekend was my annual trip to a summer music festival, this year, The Green Man folk festival. We had free, access all areas, tickets from Mike's partner Fi who organises it. Our party were; me, Ibolya, Jessica, Adam, Jerry and (Jerry's friend) Mike.

Some of the many things I really liked about the festival, and made it pretty exceptional in my experience, were; (Tubourg larger cups excepted) a total absence of corporate branding and advertising, beautiful countryside, portaloos that didn't run out (at any time) of paper or handwash, showers with hot water, never felt too crowded with small capacity of 10k, recycling facilities, a strong emphasis on high quality food, no Police or even high profile security and so family friendly there were Children that looked barely a few days old.
This was all topped by an excellent line up and I went looking forward most to seeing Laura Marling and The Super Fury Animals.

This guy was brilliant

He wandered round the site, consulting his map, looking lost and confused and followed by his partner. Genius.

Laura Marling, who was one of my biggest highlights, along with Alela Diane, Lous Rhodes, 9Bach, Babel, Junior Boys, Super Furies, Los Campesinos and the lady playing the big drum and accordion on Sunday afternoon
