My first trip to the cinema of 2010 was Avatar, last night, at the Imax Waterloo, and the first film I've ever seen in 3-D. It was absolutley astonishing, a totally, fully, immersive experience, which takes the technical process and possibilities of making films to a whole new level.
The story is old fashioned, simple, 'cowboys and indians' with some heart warming, ethically sound, things to say about Iraq, the enviroment and multiculturalism.
In spite of it's epic scale and it's resemblance to a big computer game; it's genuinley touching and engaging. I also liked it that the magnificent Sigourney Weaver had such a central and strong role.
