I love a good civil wedding, our third, since same sex weddings became legal in this country; one of the crowning, legislative, glories of the pioneering days of New Labour. It's up there with the minimum wage, ending blood sports, the Good Friday Agreement, devolution, de-regulation of licensing hours and free entry into museums, (all opposed by the Tories) as one of the greatest legacies of an administration, I feel terribly nostalgic for.
Anyway, we were thrilled and felt very privileged to be invited to Laura and Shiri's wedding day on Saturday and to share with them, and their families, such a happy and emotional day. It was great to have Lucas along with us too for his first wedding. The ceremony took place at Islington Town Hall and the reception at the Wapping Project, an incredible venue, in an old hydraulic power station.

Lucas on Saturday Morning

Here's my little Lookie, in his crib on Saturday morning, accompanied by the sound of one of our favourite pieces of music; Carl Orff's Musik Fur Kinder III.
This was used so brilliantly by Terrence Malick in 'Badlands' and one day I'll have xylophones for all the family and we'll play this together.

Ruby's Stay

Guest Blogger: Miss Emilia Hargreaves (my eldest neice)

This weekend Ruby came round to the Hargreaves’s house to stay for the night.
At eleven in the morning Mummy, Hugo, Bea and I set of to pick up Ruby. As soon as we got home we had some lunch, for lunch we had sausage rolls, cheese, tomatoes and other thing’s to pick at.
In the afternoon we all had a rest, and Ruby had a long sleep! When we where all up and ready again we gathered our things and went to the park were we met the Berry family. Ruby enjoyed playing with Calypso, their youngest Hugo played with Lise, and I played with one of my best friends Emma.

As soon as we got home it was dinner time and of course our favourite pasta and cheese sauce which Ruby had at least six helping’s of. We were all covered in cheese when we had done so we all hopped into the bath together! We were all extremely tired that evening so we all went striate to bed.

When we woke up Ruby was still asleep so we left her for another half hour we eventually managed to get her up by eight thirty. After we were all up and ready we had half an hour television before we left to take Ruby back home. When we arrived brunch was ready waiting for us, we had a delicious plateful for each of us. Soon after we had to leave we said our good-byes and headed home, after a great weekend of excitement!

On Saturday morning, we crossed town to Bermondsey and had the very great pleasure of meeting, our very dear friends Pete and Karen's, new baby boy, Milo. I'm smiling just typing this and seeing the pictures again.
He is a very, very gorgeous little boy and Pete and Karen are incredibly natural new parents. There's only a few weeks between Milo and Lucas so I hope they'll grow up being really close friends.

One of the many things I still love about London, even after 21 years, is the thrill of discovering a little corner of town I was previously unfamiliar. I felt like an over excited tourist on Saturday morning, walking from Bermondsey Square, down Bermondsey Street, towards Borough Market, snapping away and pointing at things and saying to Ibolya:'look at that!'. It really brought out the Keith Pratt in me.
What a fantastic part of town, a truly great street and what an amazing place to live. It's got everything that makes for an incredible quality of life; great pubs, a villagey feel, an independant cinema and bookshop, farmers markets, tremendous restaurants and cafes, brilliant old and new buildings, a very pleasanr walk to Borough Market and Tate Modern, good public transport and thriving new businesses. For me, Bermondsey epitomises the triumph of New Labour and is a great bit of a very great city.

Mark, Stephen and I were supposed to see 'Exposed' at Tate Modern last night but I got the night of the late night opening wrong. So we went to the pub instead, giving me the rare and very fine pleasure of spending the evening, drinking pints of Guinness, in the company of two of my very best and oldest friends.
