Tables and Chairs at Frieze

As I was wondered round Frieze on Friday morning, my attention was quickly drawn to the vast variety and combinations of tables and chairs at each gallery's stand.
This distraction soon developed into a near obsession that left me marvelling at all the fantastic examples of furniture rather than contemporary art.
It was a lot of fun to photograph and made my visit so much more interesting.

Frieze

I had my annual trawl round the Frieze Art Fair on Friday. It's always a great photo opportunity but I really missed Ibolya and Ruby, who've come along with me the last two years. I'd have loved to have seen what caught Ruby's eye now and seen what Lucas would have made of this visual feast.
As usual, about 95% of the art was pretty bad but the 5% good stuff, still making the trip worthwhile.
One thing I'm always aware of when I go is how much my mate Pete' work would wipe the floor with most of everything that's there. One year, I'll get my act together, rent a space, and exhibit Pete's work.

Murder

A young woman was stabbed to death in a car at the bottom of our road, on Friday evening, as we bathed our children. If we had looked out of our bathroom window, about 6.15, we would have seen the it all happen. I probably cycled by the murderer as he fled down Station Road.
It was complete chance that the car came to be parked where it was but a very chilling feeling that such a tragic event should happen so close to our home.

Ruby in Roundwood

It was far from an ideal weekend. The combination of our extreme lack of sleep, a raging hangover from Friday night, a 'tummy' bug and Ibolya feeling aches and pains through her whole body, made for a somewhat short tempered and tetchy time. Which is why I didn't feel like taking many pictures.
The highlight of the weekend was driving to our bi-annual (we go twice a year?) appointment in Hampton, with our dear friend Sarah, for the 3rd Hampton Boy Scouts Jumble Sale! Slim pickings this time but I did bag a few old bits and pieces, we don't actual really need. The other highlight was going to Roundwood Park with Ruby and Lucas on Sunday afternoon. Roundwood is in her element in Autumn and she looked glorious.

Nottingham Part 4

Luna is an incredible shop in Nottingham that sells things I wish I could fill my house with - mid 20th century furniture and design. I only found out about it because the owner lives round the corner from my Mum and Dad's. They had a particularly fine collection of Bjorn Wiinblad ceramics, when I popped in the other day, which I know would be the envy of my friend Karen.

Nottingham Part 3

Here are some more snaps from our Nottingham weekend. As you can see, the weather wasn't that kind to us but was good enough on Saturday morning to get up a ladder and pick apples and pop 'uptown' and check out 2 amazing shops Luna and The Danish Home Store, full of stuff I covet and would like to own. There's more from Luna tomorrow.
We'd planned to go to Nottingham Racecourse car boot sale on Sunday morning, which was rained off but I did get to go to the, mythical, other side of the Trent river, which I'd only ever seen, all my life, at a distance.
I've also included a few random objects I like from around the house, that reminds me of home and a wonderful photograph, from Uncle Jim's house, of my Great Grandfather with his wife and children, including my Grandpa Chettle, second from right.
