The 1st Momentous Day

On the 1st day of Summer, 30th March 2008, at 10.00, sitting with my wife in the bathroom of our house, with the sound of church bells, I found out I was going to be a father.
It was the 1st thing I thought about when I woke that morning and the pregnancy test confirmed what my instincts were telling me. This couldn't have been a more perfect and momentous day.
I still can't take in the significance of this news and can't quite believe it to be true. In fact I must have starred at the tester for about 15 minutes not believing what the indicator was saying.
But we did another test later in the day and this had the same result. I photographed both so I could keep checking that my eyes weren't still deceiving me.

Inspired by my close friends Pete and Karen, I've decided to keep a record of the momentous 9 months that lye ahead. If nothing more than for my wife and I to be able to look back and remember some of things we go through and happen to us in the most important months of our lives so far. Perhaps in years to come, this might also be interesting reading for our children.
I know there are certainties ahead and there's a very high chance that the pregnancy might not last but none the less, here we go.

I'm going to try and keep this concise, to the point, unemotional and as objective as it's possible to be. Again, inspired by Karen, I'll share our enthusiasms and the events and people that make up our world. Apologies in advance if this ever gets too smug or self indulgent.

So on to what happened yesterday after we got our news. We have freinds staying with us this weekend. Beatrice and Dennis, from Paris and Dennis's English son Thomas. I cooked sausages, bacon and eggs for breakfast, washed down with strong coffee and juice. We left them to it and cycled to High Street Kensington to buy some holiday clothes. Both bought things from Gap and H&M. Went to Wholefoods and had a pizza and bought a chicken for dinner.
Came home and prepared Sunday roast dinner. Talked with Dennis until about 9.00 when he put Thomas to bed. We followed suit and were asleep by 10.00.
