After what Ibolya and I thought was a bit of an under-wealming opening ceremony (great ideas, politically sound, nice lighting of the flame - but we never felt moved or awestruck) we were dead excited about going to our first Olympic event, mens team archery at Lords.
It was the perfect event for us, just a short tube ride away, an early morning start and only a hour or two of sport. Team GB got knocked out in the first match but we were very pleased to see Mexico go through, who we were supporting on behalf of our friend Irene.
We had a long overdue weekend at my Mum and Dad's. I still find it a really profound (if that's not too strong a word) experience to be at my childhood home, with my own children, sitting round our kitchen table with them and hearing them call my Mum and Dad 'Granny' and 'Grandpa' - it really is a powerful and emotional feeling for me. It was wonderful, as always, to see my parents and we had the added bonus of also seeing Uncle Jim and Auntie Pauline and David and Laura.
Ibolya and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary n Saturday and had a lovely dinner at Escabeche
The first Sunday of every month has Ibolya in a frenzy at the Chiswick Car Boot Sale. Ruby, Lucas and I went along too, for a rare visit and hung out at Chiswick House Cafe.
